Ron Odermatt

Ron Odermatt’s works emerge from the interplay between intuition and technique. The painting process begins with free lines and the use of abundant water—a spontaneous, dynamic start that finds structure and harmony through deliberate composition.
He works primarily with acrylic paints, spatulas, palette knives, and brushes. Particularly captivating for him is the depth created through glazing layers and transparent tones. Materials such as marble powder, bitumen, and other fillers give his paintings a vibrant, unique surface.
Many of his works mature over weeks or months before they are completed. This process of reflection is central to his art. For him, completion is the moment when intuition, technique, and expression merge into unity.
