Paul Cézanne

Paul Cézanne (born January 19, 1839; died October 22, 1906) was a French artist. Cézanne’s work is associated with various stylistic movements. While his early works were characterized by Romanticism and Realism, his intensive exploration of Impressionist forms of expression led him to a new visual language that sought to solidify the fleeting pictorial impression of Impressionist works. He abandoned illusionistic perspective, broke the rules established by representatives of Academic art, and strove for a renewal of classical design methods based on the Impressionist color space and principles of color modulation.
