Claude Monet

Claude Monet (born November 14, 1840; died December 5, 1926) was a prominent French painter whose middle creative period is associated with the Impressionist movement. His early work, up until the mid-1860s, consists of realistic paintings. In the late 1860s, Claude Monet began painting Impressionist works. In doing so, he moved away from the contemporary tastes shaped by traditional art academies, which worsened his financial situation.
