Amadeo Modigliani

Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (* July 12, 1884 in Livorno; † January 24, 1920 in Paris) was an Italian draftsman, painter, and sculptor. He is best known for his nude paintings, which were considered scandalous in his time and only gained acceptance later. Modigliani spent his youth in Italy, where he studied the art of antiquity and the Renaissance, until he moved to Paris in 1906. There, he came into contact with important artists such as Pablo Picasso and Constantin Brâncuși. His life was marked by lung disease. In a fever dream, he is said to have recognized his calling to art; he died of tuberculosis at the age of 35.
