Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse, full name: Henri Émile Benoît Matisse (born December 31, 1869, in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, Nord department, France; died November 3, 1954, in Cimiez, now a district of Nice), was a French painter, printmaker, draftsman, and sculptor.

Along with Pablo Picasso, he is considered one of the most significant artists of Modernism. Alongside André Derain, he is regarded as a pioneer and leading representative of Fauvism, which advocated for a departure from Impressionism and represents the first artistic movement of the 20th century.
